Teachers’ CPD

I spent the day supporting the MU’s Education & Training Dept at the Faculty of Dance, Trinity Laban, Greenwich, as we collectively organised a Teachers’ Continued Professional Development event.

Following an MU Teachers’ Section Committee meeting, the itinerary included a keynote speech and a series of professional seminars and workshops, with dedicated sessions on Learning in Improvisation, Music and Autism, Challenging Traditional Routes and Music Education as a Partnership.

Journalist Andrew Stewart, photographer Joanna Dudderidge, and the video team from Chocolate Films – Reece Lipman and Ruth Gardiner – had been booked to record proceedings and capture the thoughts and impressions of staff and delegates.  Speaking to camera could be found the main MU team, Diane Widdison, John Shortell and Florence Morris, along with numerous teacher delegates throughout the day.

Adding value to delegates were regionally-based MU colleagues Andy Warnock, Paul Burrows and Louise Spanners who offered valuable support and career advice to members.  It was particularly good to catch up with guitarist John Nicolls and researcher Naomi Norton, both long-term members, and to obtain their feedback on Union services.

Our thanks to Claire Wackrow and the team at Trinity for their hospitality.
