The MU held its annual Christmas lunch this afternoon at the Avalon, Balham Hill, in south London. The majority of the Union’s officials and staff were present and it was heartening to catch up with Bill Kerr, Morris Stemp, Caroline Sewell, Paul Gray, Hannah Senior and many others from the organisation’s Regional Offices and Departments. Thanks to Jane Austin and Lynn Calvin for their much-appreciated organisation and hosting of the event. Afterwards, National Organiser Dave Webster and I dropped in at the Ivy Club in the West End just before 11pm to catch Joe Thompson and his band performing to a crowded pre-Christmas bar.
