Horace Trubridge, Dave Webster, Maddy Radcliff and I represented the MU at the annual UK Music summer event this evening, although on this occasion the venue was the 9th floor in City Hall overlooking Tower Bridge, rather than the gathering’s usual home on the Terrace at the House of Commons.
The great and the good from the industry and Westminster, including friends from PPL, the BPI, AIM, PRS Music Foundation and artists such as Gareth and Chris from Hunter & the Bear, were present to share a drink and the latest stories. Michael Dugher (CEO, UK Music), Matt Hancock (Minister, DCMS), Tom Watson (Shadow Secretary), Andy Heath (Chair, UK Music), Summer Marshall (UK Music Futures Group) and Night Czar Amy Lame all gave speeches, whilst the evening was rounded off by a courageous solo performance by singer/guitarist Nilufer Yanya.
