Soho to St James’s

Soho to St James’s

A very enjoyable day in the centre of town today. A relaxed train ride into London Bridge and a brisk walk into Soho from Tottenham Court Road tube, led to the excellent Adam of London in Berwick Street. Purchase of a quality coat and superb service from the ever-helpful Jeremy was the result.

I then walked back towards Goodge Street, passing my now redundant old coat (although in good condition) to a homeless woman on a street corner. I arrived at the Black Sheep Café to meet songwriter Alna and offer support and ideas for her music education projects.

I then made my way to Jermyn Street to meet Mark Batchelor and enjoyed a very pleasant lunch at Rowley’s restaurant. After coffee, we headed towards St James’s, going via Mason’s Yard and the site of the legendary 1960s’ hangouts, Scotch of St James’s and the Indica Gallery, the latter famous for being where John Lennon and Yoko Ono first met.

We subsequently arrived at Crown Passage and descended into Davy’s Wine Bar for a late afternoon drink. Around six o’clock we made our way to Green Park station, said our goodbyes, and I travelled to Parsons Green to the studio of top producer/writer/engineer, James Reynolds.

I first met James at The Troubadour in Earls Court in 1994 and we played many a gig in London together in the 1990s. On this occasion, he was keen to play me a series of tracks, which he is preparing in advance of sessions at Abbey Road in April.

Afterwards, we walked across the Green to ‘Vicino’, the lauded Italian restaurant. Once we completed a delicious serving of pasta, and having discussed our future plans in detail, James returned to his workplace to finish a mix and I caught a train home.
