Another very entertaining night at Piano Smithfield courtesy of performances by the enthralling trio of Matt Kent, Los Jestos and Daisy Chute, all laid on by charming promoter Lorraine Solomons. Marvellous to meet up again with rising star Alna (main photo), gig maestro and journalist Ray Jones and singer/guitarist Steve Springall too.
The area around the venue is so familiar to me, thanks to two years as a van courier in the mid 1980s, when I worked for Routemasters and was based initially in the nearby Whitecross Market prior to the set up moving to Shoreditch High Street. I used to clock up around a hundred miles a day zipping around central London with an interesting range of parcels and materials. The Mercedes van came in useful for gigs at night though!
