PPL party

PPL party

PPL, the UK’s music licensing company for over 140,000 performers and recording rights holders, hosted their pre-Christmas drinks reception at Skylon this afternoon.

John Smith, Chair of PPL, CEO Peter Leathem and Suzi Ibbotson, PPL Director of Communications, greeted numerous guests from across the industry including many of my former colleagues at the MU, namely General Secretary Naomi Pohl, Phil Kear, Dave Webster and Chris Walters. Also on hand were saxophonist Horace Trubridge (former MU General Secretary), trombonist Peter Thoms (former MU sessions official) and trumpeter Dave Lee (former Chair of the MU Executive).

In addition it was a pleasure to catch up with Tom Kiehl and Vincent Moss of UK Music, Record of the Day’s Paul Scaife, artist managers Stephen Budd and Keith Harris, Sybil Bell, CEO of Independent Venue Week, long-term contact David Stark and the MMF’s Jonathan Robinson.

My thanks to one and all.
