The MU, Equity and the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain hosted their annual Performers’ Alliance reception in the Terrace Pavilion at the House of Commons this evening. The organisations focused on the issue of low pay/no pay for artists, performers and writers and were joined by actors Sam West, Patricia Hodge and Tony Gardner, singer Sandie Shaw, Therapy drummer Neil Cooper, comedian Rhona Cameron amongst other notable activists and industry names. Speakers included Kerry McCarthy, Chair of the Performers’ Alliance All Party Parliamentary Group, plus Harriet Harman, John Whittingdale and Ed Vaizey.
