A delight this evening to find superb jazz guitarist Nigel Price playing locally at Spike’s Place, Club Langley, Beckenham, in the excellent company of French guitarist Alban Claret, drummer Laura Klein and bassist John Williamson.
Nigel is, in my opinion, our top jazz six string player on the jazz scene at the moment, with a career spanning spanning more than 25 years.
He has played on more than 50 albums including a significant number as leader; spent ten years with acid jazz outfit The Filthy Six and was a member of James Taylor’s band for 3 years (with whom he recorded 5 albums). Nigel is also a regular performer at Ronnie Scott’s where he has made more than 500 appearances.
He won a Parliamentary Jazz Award in 2010 (for Best Jazz Ensemble), a nomination for a British Jazz Award (Best Guitarist, 2014), and a British Jazz Award in 2016 (for Best Guitarist).
