Johannesburg

My elder sister Wendy moved to South Africa in 1973 and, a period around 1990 notwithstanding, lived there for almost forty-five years.  Very sadly, she passed away in early July and my sister Janet and my brother Ken and I flew to Johannesburg last week to handle her remaining affairs and to arrange and attend a memorial service to her.

We are in debt to our relatives Andrew and Beverley Bolton, along with Colin Worrall and his family, for their exceptional hospitality and unstinting help both in advance of our trip and whilst we were in the city.  A special mention should also be made of all those dear friends of Wendy who attended the service; of the welcome and support we received at Rosebank Lodge; the attentive staff at Doves Memorial Services and the Crematorium; the staff at Roxdale Gardens where Wendy lived; plus a special mention of our excellent and reliable taxi driver, Colin.

I have established a tribute site to Wendy online, to which her family, friends and work colleagues are very welcome to contribute.
