Youth Jazz

Acclaimed bass player Dave Holland joined a group of musicians from the National Youth Jazz Collective for a performance at Portcullis House this evening. Dave, a New York based British-born musician, travelled to the States to play and record with Miles Davis in the late 1960s. He subsequently played with many other names including Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea and Pat Metheny. The Collective, meanwhile, consists of young musicians studying jazz courses at UK conservatoires. The event, a regular in the Parliamentary music calendar, is organised by the All Party Parliamentary Jazz Appreciation Group (APPJAG) and supported by PPL. My thanks for the invitation to the Co-Chairs, Michael Connarty MP and Lord Colwyn, Group Secretary Baroness Coussins and its Vice Chair, Kelvin Hopkins MP.
