UK Music Comms

I arranged with UK Music for the MU to host this month’s Comms Committee meeting at our Oval HQ today and so, at half past three this afternoon, I welcomed representatives from all the organisation’s members to 60-62 Clapham Road.

UK Music is an industry-funded body, which was established in October 2008, to represent the collective interests of the recorded, published and live arms of the British music industry. Its members are: AIM, the Ivors Academy, the BPI, FAC, the MMF, the MPA, the MPG, MU, PPL, PRS for Music and the UK Live Music Group.

The agenda for the meeting incorporated discussions about the Musicians’ Creative Careers website; MU Deputy General Secretary Naomi Pohl explaining the Union’s extensive work to combat sexual harassment in the industry; a presentation by UK Music’s Head of Research Natalie Williams on the Music By Numbers report; an update on the Music By Numbers launch; Brexit; the #SelfieLeave campaign; and arrangements for the Committee’s Christmas events. The ninety minute meeting was rounded off by the group receiving brief updates from all the members on their respective current activities.
