A very pleasant few hours at Slinfold Golf and Country Club, Horsham, Sussex, in the company of my son Ben and members of the Hayes family. The Four Seasons society was established in 1994 by the late Fred Hayes and is marking its 30th anniversary with a series of quarterly events.
The weather was generally good and I enjoyed the course layout, although I should add that the tees and greens were not in top condition. I played with Steve Warren, his brother-in-law Steve, and James Hayes. Ben did a great job as a scorer and caddie (should that be caddy?)
James and I were beaten 3 & 2 by the partnership of the two Steves, however it was a tight game until Steve F played a superb tee shot to the par 3 16th to close out the match. I took some comfort from having won the ‘nearest the pin in one’ competition in a head wind on the 7th. The prize neatly paid for Ben’s fee for the day!
