House of Commons

The Performers’ Alliance All-Party Parliamentary Group hosted its annual Reception in the Strangers’ Dining Room at the House of Commons this evening.  Chair Alison McGovern MP introduced a number of speakers including Labour Party Leader Jeremy Corbyn and representatives from the MU and Equity.

Writer Neil Crossley and photographer Joanna Dudderidge captured the proceedings as parliamentarians, performers and union officials debated current issues for British artists.

Deputy Leader Tom Watson MP, Kevin Brennan MP and John Whittingdale MP were present, as were my special guests: Strictly Come Dancing MD Dave Arch, trumpeter, composer and bandleader Guy Barker, respected bassist Geoff Gascoyne and the effervescent pianist Neil Cowley.

We retired afterwards to the basement of the Red Lion opposite Downing Street in Whitehall, for Equity’s regular post-event drinks party and where it was a pleasure to spend time with actor Tony Robinson.
