I had the pleasure of knowing Danny Longstaff for many years, both as a musician and as a colleague at the Musicians’ Union. His sudden passing shocked everyone who knew him and his funeral service today, held at St Paul’s Church, Birmingham, allowed a very large gathering – including many members of the CBSO – to pay their respects to a very popular man.
I had the privilege of setting up a tribute website to him on behalf of the MU and this has collected numerous memorials, photos, stories and contributions to his family’s chosen charity, the Critical Care Trust Fund, Brimingham City Hospital. RIP Danny, you will be greatly missed.
