A superb afternoon and evening at the Hallmark Hotel, Croydon, which was the venue for the latest gathering of the Hayes family, organised highly efficiently by cousin Les Hayes. My mother-in-law, nee Peggy Hayes, was the last of 11 children and it was particularly enjoyable to catch up with the older relations. 133 relations attended, although the gathering was saddened to learn of the passing of John ‘Jack’ Hayes just the day before.
