For Afghan women

For Afghan women

I visited Pony Studios in Hackney this afternoon at the kind invitation of Cayenna Ponchione-Bailey to attend the recording of an anthem for the women of Afghanistan by UK based Hazara singer/songwriter, Elaha Soroor.

This project is being co-supported by The NGO Women for Afghanistan based in Geneva and it remains extremely important that the plight of women in the country is highlighted. Afghanistan is the most dangerous place in the world for women in 2024.

My commendations to everyone involved in the recording. Especially the talented session musicians: saxophonist Tamar Osborn, drummer Romarna Campbell and multi-instrumentalist Al MacSween.
