Mark Batchelor and I were kindly added to the guest list by soul and blues dynamo Melissa James last night for her Gig in a Gallery at the Queen of Hoxton, London EC2. Featuring an appealing line-up of bands and solo artists, the evening was headlined by punk era, activist and broadcaster Tom Robinson, who delighted the crowd with a series of classics including Up against the wall, Glad to be gay, Martin and 2-4-6-8 Motorway. With proceeds going to the Small Steps Project, Melissa had pulled together a varied and entertaining cast, with an early highlight being the adventurous and memorable Lux Lisbon.
