Cumberwell Park

Cumberwell Park

A regular date in my relatively slim golf calendar is the charity event hosted by Neil and Sarah Davies at Cumberwell Park in Wiltshire and – after two days with the Future team in Bath – I took at taxi out to the well-appointed club.

The weather was kind once again and an enthusiastic group of fifty players and accompanying supporters gathered on the practice putting green at midday for a photoshoot before heading out into the country.

I rarely play these days and my lack of match practice was soon put to the test as my usual reliable driving and irons seem to dessert me for once. However, it was an enjoyable round and my thanks to everyone involved for an entertaining day.

I had to leave promptly upon returning to the clubhouse, as a particularly busy weekend was on the cards back in Beckenham, with Ben involved in two matches and a session volunteering with the juniors already set for the next 24 hours. I therefore sadly missed the evening dinner, which I understand was particularly drink-driven!

Neil, Sarah and the team have raised over £20,000 in recent years for the Bath Cancer Unit Support Group and the Dorothy House Hospice Care. What a superb effort.
