Maddy Radcliff and I attended the annual Communications Awards at Congress House, London, this evening at the invitation of the organisation’s General Secretary and the TUC Comms team.
This year there were six categories and the MU was Commended for The Musician magazine in the ‘Best membership communication: print journal’ section, while our video ‘Behind Every Musician‘ was Commended in the ‘Best recruitment/new member communication’ section. The worthy winners, respectively, were the Royal College of Midwives’ journal and the NASUWT new teachers’ guide.
The judges included Jo Stevens MP (Cardiff Central), Tom Bage (Change.org), Debbie Cavaldoro (Nautilus International), Vic Langer (Save the Children) and journalist Zoe Williams.
TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady said: “Unions are nothing without our members. Top-quality communications are absolutely vital to involve members and speak to the wider public. We’ve seen some really impressive trade union campaigning and communicating in the past year and I want to thank all trade union communicators and our judges for the fantastic work they’ve done.”
