I was delighted to attend the annual ‘Summer Jazz’ event hosted by Yamaha, in association with Jazzwise, the All-Party Parliamentary Jazz Appreciation Group, PPL, and the 606 Club. The celebration of the manufacturer’s jazz scholarship programme, now in its 7th year, is always a rewarding evening. The programme aims to provide student jazzers with financial assistance and performance opportunities. The winners will also be nominated for consideration by the Heads of Jazz at some of the UK’s top music colleges. Presenting the Awards were Jazz FM’s Helen Mayhew and Yamaha Music MD, Mark Rolfe.
