Stamford blues

It what is now apparently an annual fixture, AFC Bournemouth were drawn away to Chelsea in the Carabao Cup once again.  The timing of the quarter final game, in midweek and just before Christmas, meant that it was relatively easy to purchase tickets from the official Cherries site.

I arrived in good time, which conveniently permitted a spell of shopping in Kings Road, a haircut and an early evening meal, prior to meeting Mark Batchelor at Fulham Broadway tube station.  Mark and I then took our places in the lower tier in the Shed end at Chelsea, amongst the Cherries’ fans.

The match was a fairly uneventful affair, with Bournemouth mostly keeping Chelsea at bay, but for the second year running Eden Hazard proved the difference between the teams as the home team won by a single goal thanks to his solo effort in the 84th minute.

Mark and I walked back down Wandsworth Bridge Road to Joe’s Diner for a pleasant post-match supper.
