My MU colleague Dez Straub and I could be found at Soho’s Borderline last night, enjoying a triple feast up of up-and-coming British hard rock acts: The Jokers, Sons of Icarus and Wild Lies. The Sons have just finished recording their debut album with producer Dan Weller, while The Jokers’ new release, ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll Is Alive’, is being released on their own Nineteenth Century Record label this month. The dual headliners were preceded by the bluesy Wild Lies who set an energetic standard. Our thanks go to Lindsay Jagger, the band’s PR, for the invitation and introducing us to their exhuberant guitarist, Paul Hurst. A great evening.
