ROH

I joined my colleagues Jamie Pullman, Jo Laverty and Simeon Scheuber-Rush at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden this evening, as the ROH Orchestra musicians raised awareness of their insufficient earnings since lockdown.

In 2020 the musicians at the Royal Opera House took a 10% pay cut, to help the financial situation of the company during the pandemic when the Opera House was closed. Their pay was never restored to pre-pandemic levels. For tonight’s performance, to draw attention to their fight to have their pay restored, the orchestra will be wearing T-shirts instead of their usual concert dress.

The players gathered at the market side entrance of the venue to be captured by photographer Jonathan Stewart wearing their ‘Fairpay’ campaign T-Shirts.
