Travelled over to the West End this afternoon to The Avenue, 7 St James St, SW1, for PPL’s annual pre-Christmas reception in the very premises at which I used to work for Guardian Royal Exchange in 1979-80 as a Professional New Entrant. Good to catch up with violinist Pat Halling, former MU Gen Sec Dennis Scard, Fran Nevrkla, Chris Hodgkins, Paul Scaife of Record of the Day, Sybil Bell of comms gurus ‘I like the sound of that’, plus the indefatigable and wonderful Maggie Crowe.
