A superb evening at the Neighbourhood Church Hall in Beckenham as organisers Steve and Ben hosted a sold out ‘Neighbourhood Session‘ featuring the top class vocal talents and songwriting of Lady Nade and Lydia Clowes.
Lydia Clowes delivered a focused set of angelic songs accompanied by the delicate electric and acoustic six string skills and harmonies of Tommy Ashby. Lydia sung on Little Mermaid (2023) and Cruella (2021) and I highly recommend listening to her EPs available on Bandcamp.
I am proud to say I have known Lady Nade for some years, both through her involvement with the MU and her award-winning recognition by the AMA-UK. She always informs, intrigues and entertains with her song material and stories and tonight held the packed audience in awe of her gospel, Nina Simone inspired voice. On this occasion she was joined by the charming multi-instrumentalist Dan Everett on bass, guitar and vocals. Stand out tracks included ‘Smoke and mirrors’, ‘Complicated’ and ‘Willing.’
A memorable gig in perfect surroundings, an excellent sound system and an example of grassroots music at its finest.
