National Jazz Archive

National Jazz Archive

It was a pleasure to join the AGM of the excellent National Jazz Archive this evening.

The Archive is a collection of materials pertaining to jazz and blues that is kept at the Loughton Library in Essex, England. The archive was founded by British trumpeter Digby Fairweather in 1998 and contains visual and print materials from the 1920s to the present.

An engaging range of subject matter was discussed at the online meeting, with two items relating to the MU proving of particular interest to the Trustees. Firstly, the possibility of our covering the work of the Archive in The Musician magazine, plus secondly how we could work together in producing and distributing appropriate promotional material.

My thanks to Mike Rose, responsible for Marketing & Fundraising on behalf of the Archive. I am sure will be in touch again very soon.

In the meantime, please do look out for their regular funding raising gigs. All support is gratefully received.
