Most improved

It was presentation time at The Warren FC this afternoon as the club and its staff marked the end of the 2018-2019 football season.  Players, management and parents could be found in groups on the playing fields at the Met Police ground, Hayes, and we soon hooked up with the Under 13 squad, plus their managers and coaches, Bill, Bradleigh and Matt.

Bill spoke briefly about how the season had been a challenge, especially with the break-up of The Blues second string team, but added the players had worked together well in the second half of the fixtures and that the collective spirit and skill development bode well for next year.

The presentations then began, with each player receiving a club trophy and plaudits from the parents and team mates.  Our son Ben was delighted to also receive the ‘Most Improved Player’ Award from Brad, who said that whilst Ben had joined the club last August as a relatively ordinary player, that his commitment to training and positive attitude underlined his potential to become a really good team player in the years ahead.

Bill stated that he would taking a back seat next season and handing the team selection reins to Brad.  We wish to especially thank Bill for welcoming Ben and encouraging him throughout the matches and the training sessions at The Warren on Saturdays and to also acknowledge Brad for the evening sessions at Goals in Elmers End on Wednesdays.

Here’s to next season!
