Julie, Ben and I have just returned from a welcome trip to Marrakesh, Morocco, where we stayed for ten days at the all-inclusive Iberostar Hotel in Palmeraie. We flew out on BA from Gatwick on 24 July to be met by taxi arranged by the hotel, the driver of which had kindly waited for the delayed plane. In fact all the staff at or connected with the hotel proved to be superb throughout our stay.
The hotel offered three pools and an extensive range of activities, including archery, poolside zumba, football, trapeze, table tennis, volleyball. We arranged a day trip to the medina and souks in Marrakesh and had a relaxing hour in a couple of the rooftop bars around the central market. It was not so great being hassled by a number of locals in the market, but we did anticipate this would be the case. We also booked a day trip in a 4×4 to the nearby Atlas Mountains, in the company of a helpful and considerate driver/guide and a very amendable French family of three. We collectively had tea with Berber family in their home and an early afternoon lunch at a riverside restaurant.
We also had a good time at the hotel in the evenings, courtesy of the nightly events hosted by the on-site events team, including a Moon Party during the full eclipse on the Friday, a ‘White Night’ at the Zen pool, plus a Karaoke party at which Ben excelled with a solo performance of Here comes the Sun.
Many an hour was spent relaxing time by the pool in temperatures often approaching the 40 degree mark.
We returned today on EasyJet and our thanks to their staff for a very efficient and on-time return journey.
