The All Party Parliamentary Jazz Appreciation Group, in partnership with PPL, hosted an event at Portcullis House tonight. Co-chairs of the Group Michael Connarty MP and Lord Colwyn introduced Jambone, the north east’s top youth jazz ensemble from The Sage, Gateshead. The talented line-up was led on this occasion through a mix of new and classic material by guest artist, trombonist Rick Taylor. It was a pleasure to catch up with jazz notables Gary Crosby and Chris Hodgkins, as well as parliamentarians Ian Cawsey and Greg Knight. My thanks to Pete Leathem, Jonathan Morrish, Fiona Haycock and all at PPL for an enjoyable evening.
