Westerham GC

A challenging but eventually rewarding day at Westerham GC in north Kent, in the engaging company of the Hayes family as we collectively withstood the extremely wintery conditions. Our hardy group in the Four Seasons Society withstood the rain, wind, sleet, snow and muddy conditions underfoot to post a series of respectable scores. As organiser Les Hayes reported, ‘The gods threw everything at us with the exception of the plague.’

I was pleased to record 30 points playing off a handicap of 8, which proved the winning score and meant I became the recipient of the idiosyncratic winter meeting trophy! Congratulations to Andy Hayes who took second prize on the day and notably won the annual trophy for 2017 with his total score over the four meetings. Our collective thanks to Les for his great administrative work during the year and here’s to more enjoyable events in 2018.
