I travelled back from Manchester this morning and immediately headed to EartH London in Dalston and joined my MU colleagues Dave Webster, Kelly Wood and Jamie Pullman on the MU stand at the Music Venue Trust hybrid ‘Venues Day’ for 2021.
I quickly met many a familiar face in and around the venue, including the organisers Mark Davyd and Bev Whitrick, UK Americana’s Stevie Smith, promoter Ray Jones, and Andrew Trendell of the NME.
This year Music Venue Trust (MVT), which represents hundreds of grassroots music venues throughout the UK, had announced that its annual conference and networking event would be a hybrid event with Venues Day Online, a day of virtual activity, following on 12 October. This would ensure every venue in the country could access best practice information plus advice and guidance as they emerge from lockdown.
