I attended the TUC rally A Future for Families at Emmanuel Centre in Westminster this evening, in the company of my MU colleague Maddy Radcliff, to hear from a series of speakers supporting the movement’s stand against current government policy. The event was hosted by TUC President Lesley Mercer who introduced General Secretary Frances O’Grady. Commenting on the nation’s economic status, Frances stated ‘It’s time for a fundamental change of direction. The UK is suffering from a jobs, growth and living standards crisis. If we can cure those, the UK will be well on the way to cutting debt.’
