Show of Hands

The excellent folk duo Show of Hands took centre stage at the 24th St George’s Festival in Beckenham tonight. Guitarist/writer Steve Knightley and multi-instrumentalist Phil Beer were joined once again by the marvellous bassist/vocalist Miranda Sykes and the group presented two sets of spirited folk song, storytelling and musicianship. Highlights included not just their own acclaimed material (Roots, Cousin Jack, Country life, Arrogance, igorance and greed), but also a stirring take of ‘Aunt Maria.’ It was great to be able to speak briefly to all three afterwards and to congratulate them on a top class performance in the beautiful church setting. Kudos to the production team on the night for an awesome light show too.
