Sebright soul

Sebright soul

Julie and I drove over the River in the rain this evening to Bethnal Green to catch Mylar performing at the Sebright Arms in Coate Street, E2. This particular live music venue is in the basement of an excellent pub, which on a Saturday night boasts a lively vibe and a mix of youth, pool table, football screens and welcome food.

Mylar, is led by Tom Short, son of our long-standing friends Chris and Jane Longley. The band delivered an intriguing collection of originals, which focused on their newly released EP, ‘Lost in the shuffle.’ Usually a trio, for this evening Mylar were a quartet with the addition of inventive keyboards and shimmered with echoes of the early 1980s, especially China Crisis.

Tom is a relaxed frontman and the set proved popular with the engaged crowd, who had also enjoyed Pem and Sculpture Park in support. A classic grassroots live music experience.
