Music and technology

At the kind invitation of Ian McConnell and his wife, the author Aifric Campbell, I attended a lecture on ‘Music and technology, past and future’ at Imperial College, Kensington this evening.

This ‘Dyson School of Design Engineering October Lecture’ was given by Abbey Road’s Jon Eades.  For the first half of the talk, he selected the major developments in sound recording, whilst for the second he presented those areas in sound reproduction, which he believes will be of significance in years to come.

Jon Eades heads up Abbey Road’s new technology and innovation department, Abbey Road Red, managing the company’s incubation program for music tech start-ups and working closely with researchers to investigate emerging technologies for music.

Ian, Aifric and I then drove over to Victoria, where we had a pleasant meal at Jamie’s Italian in Victoria Street to round off the evening.
