A fascinating yet mood-settling visit to the BBC’s historic Maida Vale Studios in north west London today in the company of Jo Laverty, MU National Organiser for Orchestras, and photographer Jonathan Stewart. We were there to support the BBC Singers who received the devastating news last week that the BBC were axing the entire group after ninety-nine years of top class performing and recording.
We captured the group in the marvellous Studio MV2 and filmed nine choir members about their feelings on the current predicament. All spoke passionately and thoughtfully on the situation and how the dissolution of the Singers would be heartbreaking for so many reasons. There is a meeting scheduled tomorrow with the management, which we hope will prove fruitful for our members.
