A pleasure to have lunch with trumpeter and session legend John Thirkell today at the Oval Lounge in Clapham Road. His chart record is ultra-impressive, as this Wikipedia entry confirms and his involvement with hits continues to the present day – he played on the Bruno Mars classic Uptown Funk (John’s 22nd UK No.1).
John has recorded and performed with Rod Stewart, Level 42, George Michael, Lisa Stansfield, Jamiroquai, UB40, Cher, Tina Turner, Pet Shop Boys, Swing Out Sister and many more. He is also the London based founder and co-owner of the innovative music app PureSolo.
