Anyone seeking a jazz jam in London, either as a player or a fan, is encouraged to visit Ronnie Scott’s on a Wednesday night, where trumpeter Andy Davies hosts energetic and war-hearted sessions of bebop. Free to MU members, the room soon fills with cool adventurous blasts of brass and challenging yet sympathetic rhythms, as lively jazz heads of all ages and nationalities gather to enjoy the welcoming surrounds of Ronnie’s upstairs bar. Entrance is strictly for over 18s and tickets are not available in advance, so be sure to arrive in good time – say 9.30pm to 10pm – to check in with Andy and the regulars.
