An excellent weekend in the company of photographer Jonathan Stewart, catching up with the UK guitar community at the ‘Guitar Show’ in the spacious New Bingley Hall in Birmingham.
My thanks to everyone we met, especially the event organiser Jason Hunt, the MU Midlands team of Stephen Brown and Ben Benson for administering our stand, and country musician Sally Rea Morris for her extremely valuable support.
One particular highlight was the superb acoustic guitar playing of Billy Whatman on the live stage and I recommend anyone who loves contemporary fingerstyle playing to check him out.
I also spent today visiting potential venues for the Union’s Delegate Conference, scheduled for July 2023, a tour which proved very productive. My thanks go to all the events teams who showed me around their facilities, with Conference Aston and Park Regis proving of considerable interest.
