I was at Wembley Stadium this evening with my long-time friend and ex-Schroder colleague Peter Brown, cheering on England as they booked their place at the World Cup finals next summer. There was an amazing turnout of Polish supporters, who turned Wembley High Road into Warsaw for the night. It was certainly the best atmosphere at an England match at the stadium for many years. Somehow the Poles had even acquired tickets in the England Fans members’ section that Peter and I were in. Happily, however, we were able to celebrate a notable victory and can look forward eagerly to June and July 2014.
