Music Council

I attended the launch of the Council of Music Makers (CMM) at the Strongroom, Shoreditch this afternoon alongside my colleague Naomi Pohl, Assistant General Secretary of the MU.  The collective involves the Union, BASCA, FAC, MMF and MPG. The CMM has been set up to lobby on behalf of creators and performers in the music industry.

Its first job will be to react to the Copyright Directive vote this week, on 12 September in Brussels, and to approach the UK government with proposals to improve the digital environment for music makers. In the photo (courtesy of Joanna Dudderidge) can be seen Naomi, Kevin Brennan MP, Dave Rowntree of Blur, Jack Savoretti, Helienne Lindvall plus many other notables from across the industry.

The Council’s press release garnered considerable coverage during the week, including online at Music Business Worldwide.
