My son Ben, his friend Austin and I, could be found at Bromley FC’s Hayes Lane ground for the National League match versus Altrincham this evening. An absorbing game, in which the home team failed to take advantage of some good early chances to take the lead and saw Altrincham ahead 1-0 at half time.
We ensured we were positioned behind the goal Bromley were attacking in each half and although each team had a player sent off in a frenetic ten minutes, enjoyed the home team’s fight back to take a 2-1 advantage through goals by Olufela Olomola.
However, Altrincham were not finished, and won a free kick centrally around 30 yards out in the 92nd minute and secured an equaliser thanks to an excellent shot by Alex Newby. (BBC match report). Bromley therefore remain second in the league behind runaway leaders Chesterfield.
