Broke Hill GC

A superb day’s golf at Broke Hill in the north-eastern corner of Kent with the Hayes clan (my mother-in-law’s family). A marvellous course with top class greens. I played in the lead-off group with Les and Peter Hayes and we were joined by my son Ben who caddied for me – when he wasn’t driving Les’s golf buggy!

I played off my Four Seasons handicap of 7 and scored 34 points, finishing second to Josh who scored a very creditable 38 points off a 24 handicap. I birdied both stroke index 1 and 2 (statistically the hardest holes) and in fact played the stroke index 1 to 9 holes in one over par. However, double bogeys at the 5th and the 10th (both relatively straightforward par 4s), meant I scored no points on either of these and resulted in my missing out on submitting a handicap equalling round.

My thanks to Bob Hayes who has been the Four Seasons’ summer captain for more than 15 years and who is stepping down from the role. We look forward to the autumn event, which autumn captain Vince is set to host at Lingfield in October.
