After many years as a Beckenham resident, I am starting to truly take in those little tucked away corners that can be found in and around the town centre. For example, there are 15 High Street alleys between the War Memorial and Beckenham Junction, far more than I first thought!
One intriguing path opposite the 17th century George Inn, is Leather Alley. So named as this historically ran alongside Brawn’s, a merchant all types of leather goods, while the Beckenham Boot Works could be found at the rear.
