Bedlam in Badford

The staff of the Musicians’ Union had their traditional pre-Christmas lunch today and this year our venue was the well-established south London venue for music and comedy, The Bedford in Balham.

The Bedford’s staff greeted the gathering of almost fifty MU personnel upstairs in the Map Rooms, who enjoyed a welcome drink before settling for a Christmas meal. Proceedings were kicked-off by general Secretary Horace Trubridge, who thanked those present for all their efforts during the year in serving MU members across the UK.

After the lunch, tables were cleared to permit the five-piece acoustic band Three Days Straight from Brighton to set up their equipment. They treated us to a great set of classic hits, which generated some enthusiastic dancing and singalongs. We then retired to a packed downstairs bar for further drinks and conversation.

It is always a pleasure to see our colleagues based around the Regional Offices (Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester and Glasgow) and to remind ourselves of our timeless team spirit. Thanks to one and all.
