Becks at home

Becks at home

The new football season is marked in classic fashion by a series of pre-competitive friendlies across the country and this afternoon saw Beckenham Town entertain Leatherhead in a fiesty clash.

The teams appeared in a downpour at 3pm, but the overhead rain cleared and the excellent drainage ensured the game was played out in acceptable conditions.

The sides were evenly matched and whilst Becks took the lead, Leatherhead equalised through an own goal and tested the home defence for a period up to half time.

The second half was eventful with Steve Kendall, the Beckenham physio, receiving a red card for questioning the referee about the safety of the players following a series of heavy challenges.
