I broke a lot of hearts
to get to yours,
looked through many windows
and walked through many doors.
I drew a blue fandango
on so many bedroom floors,
I threw a look and wrote the book
and settled many scores,
yet kissed a hundred lips, I guess,
before I tasted yours.
I’m coming home
to a lover, a wife,
mother and a life.
To father and friends,
a love that never ends.
Affection that’s grown
for a girlfriend alone,
I’m coming home.
I woke in many parts
to salty tears,
I sank a ship of dreams
and drank too many beers.
I’d pitch a rich falsetto
and display my souvenirs,
but time and tide are by my side
and facing new frontiers,
let’s wave goodbye at last, oh yes,
to more than wasted years.
I’m coming home
to a lover, a wife,
mother and a life.
To father and friends,
a love that never ends.
Affection that’s grown
for a girlfriend alone,
I’m coming home.
