A mini pre-birthday celebration was the order of the weekend for Ben, Julie and myself. We drove to Battersea Park on Saturday afternoon and enjoyed a stroll around the perimeter road whilst Ben sped up and down on the recumbent bike we had hired. It was a lovely sunny day and after an obligatory ice cream, we headed over to Hammersmith. Parking in my former haunt Ravenscourt Park, we walked along the riverbank to a bustling pub and ordered drinks and dinner. Feeling refreshed, we then drove to a stay over for the night, the Lancaster Hotel on the Brunel University campus in Uxbridge. Rising early we arrived at Go Ape in Black Park, so that Ben could enjoy swinging through the trees and we could wonder through the woodlands during the morning. Much building of dens followed! We started home, but were drawn by the appeal of Richmond by the Thames on such a beautiful day. A delightful walk and an early stop at the town’s Urban Diner meant more consumption on the way. A lovely weekend.
