Ealing GC

A relaxing Friday morning in the sun at Ealing Golf Club, thanks to PPL CEO Peter Leathem and musician Hywel Davies as we played a three-ball around the west London course boasting superb greens due to the work of master greenkeeper Greg Evans.

I played well for the first nine, with a particular highlight being an eagle chance on the 8th, but fell away in the second half, although I enjoyed the 16th as my approach settled flag side.  Upon returning to the clubhouse for lunch, we met club member Matt Munro Jnr who had just returned from a three month tour performing his father’s timeless songs.  I took the opportunity before heading into the West End to visit the pro shop and leave a card for local pro Neil Jordan, who I remember from our days at Meyrick Park GC in the mid 1970s.  Having said goodbye to Peter and Hwyel, I drove into town and strolled along Denmark St dropping into many of the music shops still trading in London’s ‘tin pan alley’, including the legendary Regent Sound Studios.
