Congratulations to highly-respected jazz guitarist and educator, Dr Kathy Dyson, who today was elected as Chair of the MU’s Executive Committee, the first time a female musician has held the position. Following the news of the election of Frances O’Grady to the prestigious role of TUC General Secretary, the beginning of the year marks the long-anticipated arrival of both Frances and Kathy to positions in keeping with their undoubted talents and commitment. Kathy, who was named as Jazz Educator of the Year at the 2010 Parliamentary Jazz Awards, is also Senior Lecturer in Jazz at Leeds College of Music.
